RAIN, SUGAR, EYE
2006-07, triptych film, 12’30" min., single shot, S16mm film, stereo, no dialogue
'Eye' still

In the trilogy ‘Rain, Sugar, Eye’ thoughts are captured and made visible.  Each film is made in one single shot; in which a total shot slowly changes into a close-up. The leading characters in ‘Rain’, ‘Sugar’ and ‘Eye’ are focusing on a detail. Literally seeing another world in this detail causes a fundamental change of their ideas about this reality.
In ‘Rain’ a woman looks so profoundly through a raindrop that she experiences the impossibility of reality as a whole entity.
In ‘Sugar’ a woman looks with a playful gaze at a pile of sugar inside the palm of her hand. Ordinary things like sugar, cigarette smoke and a view from a window undergo a metamorphosis and change into a shiny crystal landscape with clouds passing by.
And in ‘Eye' a man and a woman look each other so profoundly in the eyes that they experience the impossibility of a symbiosis.
