Romeo

2005, life-size video installation, vertical projection, 0'18" min., DV PAL, stereo

The video installation ‘Romeo’ portrays a man trying to juggle ceramic letters into a message in the air. As he juggles, the letters shape shifting words—LIVE, LIEVE (Dutch for ‘darling’ or ‘love’), but also LIE and EVIL—against a wall where a street sign reads ‘Helicopterstraat.’ After a few seconds, he loses control, and the letters crash onto the pavement with a loud smash, then silence. The image collapses into bright yellow briefly, then loops, showing him fail once more.
